Project Management Policy¶

PURPOSE¶
The purpose of this policy is to ensure projects are effectively managed within InnovaSystems International, LLC (ISI).
SCOPE OF THE POLICY¶
This policy defines Project Management (PM) activities that produce a unique product, service or result (e.g., applications/software, customer service contract, engineering analysis, etc.) developed by ISI.
APPLICABILITY¶
Responsibility for project management activities shall be shared among Project Managers and the appropriate stakeholders of project management activities throughout the organization. Project Managers are responsible for project planning, negotiating commitments, monitoring, control and integrating the project’s plan with any other external plans or applicable stakeholders.
AUTHORITY AND COMPLIANCE¶
This policy is authorized by the Chief Operating Officer (COO). Compliance to this policy will be evaluated through an appraisal/audit process. Results will be provided to the appropriate personnel and non-compliance, risks and issues will be submitted to the CTO for remediation.
POLICY STATEMENT¶
Project Management activities shall:
Appropriate Governance
- Every project shall have a project charter approved by the COO that designates an accountable Project Leader and Business Unit Leader
- Personnel shall have the appropriate level of experience and training prior to being designated as Project Leaders and/or Business Unit Leaders
Alignment to Goals and Strategy
- Externally sponsored projects shall fulfill all contractual obligations and conform to the annual ISI Strategic Guidance
- Internal projects shall have an executive level sponsor and an approved business case that supports the annual ISI Strategic Guidance
Project Planning, Monitoring and Controlling
- Every project shall have a complete project plan, as defined by the organizational set of standard processes, and use the plan to manage the project
- Project plans will be reviewed annually and within 30 days of significant changes
- Every software project shall conform to Agile Software Development Lifecycle activities described in the ISI Process
- Every software project shall be implemented using the Azure DevOps integrated development environment
- All non-software projects shall conform to best practices based upon the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) and applicable activities of the organizational set of standard processes
Integrated Project Management
- All projects shall establish and maintain the project defined process that forms an integrated and coherent project lifecycle
- All projects shall utilize the organizational process assets and measurement repository as a basis for estimation and planning
- Project managers shall ensure that the project work environment conforms to organizational set of standard processes
- Proactively coordinate with stakeholders to ensure that the project plan and other plans that affect the project, i.e., Configuration Management Plan, and Test Plan, adhere to the project defined process
- Project managers shall implement and manage the project against the established plan
- Project managers shall document project contributions to the organizational process assets, i.e., process tailoring, measures and improvements to plans, and training
- Project managers shall coordinate and collaborate with relevant stakeholders by managing their involvement, managing dependencies and resolving coordination issues.
Continuous Improvement
- All projects shall integrate continuous improvement into recurring cycles with specific focus on performance goals, periodic analysis of performance and incorporation of lessons learned
