PURPOSE

The purpose of this document is to establish the policy regarding the basic data management and governance approach to be used by all software project teams within Innova Systems, International LLC (ISI).

SCOPE OF THE POLICY

This policy defines standards for data management and governance and is applicable to all ISI software development project teams, internal infrastructure systems, and software business solutions and services.

APPLICABILITY

Responsibility for maintaining creating and maintaining an effective data management and governance program is divided between Project Leads and Development Mangers. Project Leads must ensure the team is adhering to this Policy. Development Managers coordinate the procedural details to align to established guidance activities. Data Stewards, SMEs (Subject Matter Experts), and all Project personnel must comply with this policy.

AUTHORITY AND COMPLIANCE

This policy is authorized by the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and compliance with this policy will be evaluated through an appraisal/audit process. Results will be provided to the appropriate personnel and non-compliance/issues will be submitted to the Business Unit Leads and the Executive team for remediation as part of the Monthly Operations Metrics Reviews.

POLICY STATEMENT

This policy is intended to establish data management best practices across the organization and has been introduced to establish a structured set of minimal policies, activities, and artifacts to maintain an effective program. While this program will include activities spanning the organization, a primary area of focus will be ensuring high-value data within the organization, and its related projects and services are managed effectively and responsibly.

This policy declares the necessary infrastructure needed to allow the adoption of data management practices and mindsets. The items listed below are intended to pave the path toward successful data management implementation.

InnovaSystems project teams shall:

  1. Define a set of processes to establish structure and expectations for the execution of data management activities.
  2. Define a Data Management Strategy that will be adopted and executed by organizational and project teams.
  3. Define a Data Management Business Case, identifying the high-value data that warrants responsible management.
  4. Define and execute an effective Data Cleansing activity.
  5. Establish and execute a Data Quality Assessment and measurement approach.
  6. Create and manage a Data Glossary of Terms.
  7. Create and manage a Data Profiling activity.
  8. Create and manage a Data Catalog.
