(Activity) for Tier: Data Analytics

PURPOSE

To follow a structured approach that leads to the development of a narrative regarding how to understand or implement the insights from the study or model. Visualization Design consists of three elements: the available data, visuals, and a narrative. The narrative consists of premises that logically lead to a conclusion(s). Each premise is an insight from the available data. The activity develops visuals which determine how to display each premise and integrate all premises into a logically consistent narrative.

WHEN

Upon declaration from the Data Engineer that the study data is ready.

INPUTS

  • Identified study data migrated into the Data Warehouse

ENTRY CRITERIA

  • Visualization requirements identified by the Question Breakdown activity
  • Study data loaded into the Data Warehouse

SUB-ACTIVITIES

  1. Visualization Selection: Select the visual that depicts each premise. Each premise is an answer to the sub-question identified in the Question Breakdown Activity.
  2. Narrative Selection: Determine the medium that links all the premises together, e.g. storyboard, presentation, GUI, etc.

OUTPUTS

  • Premises and Conclusion(s) in the form of Visuals, Presentation, Storyboard, or GUI. Each premise and conclusion shall have a Visual. The Visuals can be integrated into a Presentation, Storyboard, or GUI depending on the study.

  • The Premises and Conclusion(s) taken together must form a logical narrative.
