The purpose is to manage project performance using measurement and analysis metrics necessary to communicate how projects align to and support organizational objectives.

ENTRY CRITERIA¶
- Yearly Corporate Objectives have been published and communicated to the organization.
SUB-ACTIVITIES¶
Review and update current project measures derived from organizational objectives
- Review the measures derived from the project objective to ensure they aligned to the new organizational objectives.
Establish Project performance objectives derived from organizational objectives
- Define measures that support inherited organizational objectives. Inherited objectives are those organizational objectives which the project is required to inherit as their own measurement objectives.
- Objectives can either be qualitative or quantitative. Usually, objectives start out as ambiguous or qualitative phrases, (e.g., “improve quality”) and over time are refined as quantitative targets, (e.g., “improve quality from 10 major defects per release to no more than 5 major defects per release.”).
Specify measures to address each project performance objective
- The project may define other measures to cover a broad range of other information needs or objectives covering areas such as budget, deadline, quality and product performance as required by the contract or project stakeholders.
Establish a project performance specific measure
- Determine the project specific measure.
- Identify the activity within the process guidance this measure is declared and derived.
- Use the Metric Definition Template and ensure to properly fill in the necessary data for each section.
- Submit the proposed performance measure to the process team for review and approval from COO, CTO and Process Lead.
